Even without the surround speakers, the Bose 700 Soundbar is still capable of delivering a captivating listening experience, thanks to its ability to project a really wide soundstage. This also makes it very suitable for large screen TVs. The stereo imaging of the 700 Soundbar is equally impressive and fits well with the spacious soundstage delivered by the Bose soundbar. It has a neutral sonic character and is an ideal soundbar for most music genres except those which involve a lot of or heavy on the bass responses.
The overall bass performance is tight but does lack the punch and range to deliver an exciting home cinematic experience. At least the low-ends do not overwhelm the upper registers and the treble doesn’t sound harsh when pushed. There is a nice level of clarity in its overall sound reproduction and dialogues are clearly delivered which is great for listeners who watch TV shows and/or movies that are dialogue-heavy. The stereo separation is well-spaced and there is precision. Still, it could get muddled with sophisticated music passages, and increasing the volume doesn’t make it sound clearer.

If you have a tighter budget and/or have limited space, then the Bose Bass Module 500 will be an excellent choice to go for and it is compatible with the Bose 700 Soundbar. This is a compact 10″ subwoofer with a small footprint, not to mention, it has wireless connectivity as well which enables you to fit the Bass Module 500 nicely into tight spaces. It is also more affordable than the Bose Bass Module 700. The bass performance of the Bose Bass Module 500 may not be as agile and tight as the larger bass module but it still packs a solid punch.

The Bose Acoustimass 300 will be another amazing choice but it has been discontinued so finding a brand new model could be a difficult task. The Bose 700 Soundbar is only compatible with subwoofers that are made by the same company so it can be a bummer for some. If your Bose 700 Soundbar is part of a bigger home theater system and your setup is able to connect to a separate subwoofer via your AV receiver or other audio components. Then perhaps you might want to look at SVS PB-1000 Pro and get this powerful ported subwoofer instead. This is a 12″ subwoofer with up to 820+ Watts (Peak) and can deliver subsonic bass frequencies of down to 20Hz. Pound for pound, we do find the SVS PB-1000 Pro performs better and this is only the entry-level model.
